What a Week!!!

Last week was probably one of the craziest weeks I've had in such a long time!! It started last Saturday when my friend Tyge called me and asked if I had heard the news about Micah (his on and off girlfriend for the last 5 years). I told him no and he proceeded to tell me that she and her sister Shilo were in a massive wreck by Spanish Fork on their way home from Ephriam and both of them had died in it. Talk about a major shock. I wasn't super close with Micah but have known her for the last 5 years and hung out on numerous occasions with her and Tyge. It is crazy how such a tragedy can happen so fast, I don't have kids YET but can't even imagine the pain the family is still going through to lose 2 daughters at the same time! From the time I spent with Micah I can tell you that her personality and love for everything definately made this world a better place while she was here and her and her sister will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to know them.

The week then turned into dealing with a sick dog. My 3 year old heeler X Dodge started vomiting on Wednesday and wouldn't eat any food including scrabled eggs, ham, chicken broth, which is very unusual considering he has NEVER missed a meal in his entire life and could eat us out of house and home if we let him. We knew something had to be wrong so on our way to our Dr. appointment Jeff and I dropped him off at the vet. They checked him over and found that the back of his throat was very irritated and had a possible infection so they sent me home with antibiotics and anti-inflamatories and told me to keep an eye on him and bring him back the next day if he was still vomiting. Well the next day he was still vomiting and acting even more sick than the day before. So I took him back and they took x-rays to see if they could see anything stuck in his intestines that he might have eaten that he wasn't supposed to and bloodwork to see if there was anything going on weird there. X-rays came back normal from what they could tell and bloodwork showed a few problems occuring from dehydration. The put an IV catheter in him and sent him home with IV fluids for me to give him throughout the night. Well once again we woke up on Friday with a puking/very sick dog. Let me say here that when this whole this started I thought immediately that he had a foreign body (something stuck in his intestines) and that it was going to be a costly vet visit. Well after $350 worth of procedures over the past 2 days the next step was to do a barium study which is where they give him a fluid that shows the intestines really well on x-rays, well sure enough 2 hours into the study the barium hit a road block in his small intestine! It was golf ball sized object and this meant immediate surgery to remove it. While all this is going on I am frantically cleaning my house because my sisters, neice and mother are all on their way up to our house for the weekend. So between complete melt downs worrying about Dodge I had to keep cleaning. For those of you that don't know me well, my animals are my children and I would do anything for them and I was SO worried!! Anyway Dodge went into surgery and after he was waking up I got a call from the vet saying everything went really well and it was a fuzzy ball cat toy that they removed from his small intestine! Today is day 3 post surgery and he seems to be doing a ton better and almost back to his normal hyper self. $1500 later, I now own the most expensive cat toy ever (not that I kept it... after seeing it, it went straight to the garbage). UGH!!!

Dodge

The week ended on a good note with a fun visit from my family and my adorable niece Haydon. I haven't seen her in 6 months and she has grown so much and has such a cute personality. I have never seen a happier baby in my life! She absolutely adored Jeff and would just stare at him and touch his face everytime he was around! So cute!!

IT'S A BOY!!!

So found out today we are having a boy! We are way excited. I kinda thought all along that it was a boy but its nice to finally be able to call "nudgie" a he! We have picked Ryder for his name but can't decide on the rest of the name. Its either going to be Jeffrey Ryder Hansen and he will go by Ryder or its going to be Ryder Manton Hansen. Manton is my Grandpa's middle name and my Great Grandpa's middle name. I think we
are kind of leaning towards Jeffrey Ryder but who knows!! Anyway we are way stoked about being parents!! Our due date is July 17th but we will probably induce a week earlier so hopefully on the 10th!!

Baby Sheep

So... yeah nothing too exciting going on in my life to tell you all about! But two days ago we discovered that 6 of my research sheep had been bred before I got them and were about ready to lamb. The area I have all my animals now is not good for lambing so we moved these 6 into a facility where they could lamb out of the snow and mud. Anyway.... yesterday 2 of the girls both had a set of twins, unfortunately one passed away shortly after birth, but I now have 3 cute little lambs running around! Even though I can't use these animals for my research project anymore they are very cute and I am hoping I can find a good home for the little ones this spring when they are a little bigger. I have about 70 more "girls" that are supposed to lamb in April so altough I will have over 100 little guys running around this spring, these first 3 are exciting and very adorable! I took some pics of them tonight but it was dark, I will take more tomorrow when they are up running around.

Expecting

Yes yes yes it is true, we are expecting our first baby in July! This came as quite a surprise to us, I was having some medical problems and went in to have things checked out and found out I was expecting! It wasn't exactly in our plans anytime soon, but we are very excited about it! It makes things a little complicated with my Masters program but we will work it all out and have a little mutton buster on our hands! Its pretty crazy after we found out I was expecting my cousins also found out they were expecting about 2 weeks after my due date and Jeff's brother and sister in law are also expecting about 4 weeks after us!! Crazy crazy! Well this will be grandchild #2 on my side and #15 on Jeff's side!! Quite the family we are building up on that side! David and Shandrae's baby will make 16 grand kids!!
We had our first ultrasound last week and saw the heartbeat and everything looked great as far as we could tell, according to the ultrasound we are about 11 weeks today so that puts my due date on July 19th. I haven't been dealing with morning sickness too much, but all day sickness instead!! Ha if I keep food in my system about every 3-4 hours it helps a lot. I have also had some major lower back problems the last few weeks, I have been to the chiropractor several times but it seems that is only a quick fix and has yet to relieve the pain for more than a few hours. I am hoping that I can start physical therapy next week and get things worked out before I get much bigger and things really start to move. Anyhow, we get to find out what it is around the first of March so I will let everyone know what it is when we find out!

April Fools in December

BAH HUMBUG!!
Santa is playing mind games this winter :) On Tuesday I was online checking my bank account and as the page pulled up I noticed a rather large amount of money had suddenly made its way into my account. Somewhere along the lines of $40,500 had been deposited in my savings account the day before!! WOO HOO somone loves me..... Well turns out not really, the bank made a big mistake and took it all back today, so depressing :( Oh well it was fun to look at for the 4 days it was there!! Thats probably the last time my account will ever see that much hahah

And yes I have been a big slacker in the Christmas decoration pictures, perhaps someday I will get them posted!

First Blog!

Hi all!
Well this is officially my first blog! haha My neighbor showed me her blog tonight and I thought I was a really good idea to try to keep everyone updated on our crazy life since I don't talk to anyone very often.

Well just a quick update of life I guess, I am full swing into my research project now with 94 pregnant sheep that I feed sagebrush to every few days! Haha quite the adventure, I spend about 4-5 hours a day feeding "the girls" and if I am lucky Jeff comes out to help (which is most of the time). I'm not taking any classes this year just focusing on the research, I will have my hands full in April when "the girls" start having their lambs!!

Unfortunately the sheep require me to be here on a daily basis to feed them so we cannot leave Logan to visit family until sometime around June. Which means we spent Thanksgiving here with the neighbors and will spend Christmas alone in Logan for the first time in 5 years.

Jeff is working hard and enjoying a few days off before he starts working the busy month of January where he doesn't get any days off the whole month!! I think he is still enjoying the nice weather and riding his bike whenever he can! I've been under the weather the past week and he has been taking good care of me! Don't know what I'd do without him!!

We spent the weekend decorating the house and putting up the tree, I will take some pictures tomorrow and put them on here.
